Department of Homeland Security, Advanced Research Projects Agency awards SBIR contract to SNVC
March 31, 2004 - SNVC awarded HSARPA SBIR for SCADA IDS R&D
SNVC, L.C., a small veteran-owned company, providing information technology and security services to federal and commercial customers, announced today that it has been awarded a contract by the Department of Homeland Security, Advanced Research Projects Agency (HSARPA). SNVC will be providing a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) solution in the area of advanced secure Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and related Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
SCADA is a term used to describe control and data acquisition systems that are integral to many critical infrastructures (e.g., electrical power grid, water, gas, and oil pipelines, etc.). Depending on the specific installation and configuration these systems also carry the moniker of Distributed Control Systems.
HSARPA's requirements are to develop a concept to enhance the protection of existing SCADA systems. Inclusive to this task, SNVC will design, develop and architect a SCADA Intrusion Detection System (IDS). SNVC's team member is Mykotronx, Inc. of Torrance, California. Mykotronx is a recognized leader for providing state-of-the-art security solutions.
